Due to the rough terrains and technicality of the mountain biking trails in the Durbanville, Bellville, and Tygerberg areas, injury is often unavoidable. Mountain biking is an increasingly popular sport and with more and more enthusiasts on the trails, the Sec-U-Med team recognised a need for a service that will enable cyclists to call for help, no matter their emergency or where they find themselves.
The Sec-U-Med support forms part of the mySOS app, which offers clients access to emergency service providers in their immediate surrounds. When registering for Sec-U-Med’s service, a TAB will appear on the home screen of your mySOS app, which can be used to activate an emergency together with a host of features. Our emergency services include help for injuries, criminal threats, and mechanical breakdowns.
Through GPS tracking, which is turned on by the user at the start of their journey, our team can monitor your progress and pinpoint exactly where you are if you signal for help. If in distress, our control room team will be in contact with our armed response team on location, and we will come to your aid as soon as possible.
Our response team is trained to handle an assortment of scenarios, such as warding off attackers, assisting with injuries and medical emergencies, or just fixing your flat tyre. Our personnel on e-bikes, motorcycles, and vehicles, are ready and waiting to assist you in any area of the trail network.
Registering for Sec-U-Med is fast and simple! Start by downloading the mySOS app, free of charge. Once registered, you will receive the Sec-U-Med TAB on the app, providing unlimited coverage during active trail times (from dawn to dusk), for only R149 per month for Tygerberg MTB Club members, and R179 per month for non-members.
When signing up, an initial 6-month contract applies, where after the renewal is automatically on a month-to-month basis. We require a 30-days cancellation notice if you wish to terminate your contract.
